The revolutionary 4-cylinder unit in the E250
CGI with a displacement of 1.8 litres, direct injection, variable valve
timing and turbocharging is optimised to deliver outstanding torque and
power right from low rpm ranges in order to offer flexibility and
reserves of power in all driving situations, not to mention its low fuel
consumption and emissions. Two balancer shafts ensure minimal engine
vibration at every engine speed.
The 6-cylinder
powerplant in the E 300 delivers an inimitable combination of smoothness
and power for refined performance. A sophisticated technology package
is the secret behind the 6-cylinder V-engine. All four camshafts, for
example, feature variable adjustment across the entire engine speed
range – ensuring that high torque and power reserves are available to
call on. Optimized fuel combustion also results in lower consumption,
while a balancer shaft ensures smooth operation.
